The brief was clear on stakes and short on time. A Souvenir Commemorative Magazine for high-level AU delegates including former presidents, ambassadors and senior officials. Five hundred printed copies. Ten days from first content draft to delivered, quality-checked magazines.
The design direction I chose was luxury editorial meets institutional credibility. The kind of magazine that would not look out of place on a coffee table but would also hold its own in a room full of heads of state. Clean typographic hierarchy, generous white space, strong portrait treatment for the dignitaries featured, and a cover that felt like an occasion rather than a document.
The tension in a brief like this is always between the corporate obligation, brand compliance, official photography, formal content, and the editorial aspiration. Getting the two to coexist without one flattening the other is the actual design problem. The result was a publication that read with the weight the audience expected and the visual distinction the occasion deserved.
